Here you’ll be able to find all sorts of articles on wine, from how it’s made to different wine tasting notes. All written in English so you can practice reading and understanding the English language whilst learning about wine!
So what is Speaking of Wine? And who is behind the name?
Speaking of Wine was formed after I, Lorna, decided a year ago to leave my job in wine tourism and dedicate myself to teaching professionals about wine in English. Living in such a touristic area, English is a must-have for any professional working in wine tourism, as a sommelier, winemaker or for anyone really! I find so often that many people can explain wines in their native language so well, but when I ask them to describe the same things in English… well, lets just say the conversation isn’t a «fluid» one and is normally only a few seconds long…
All of what I do is in English, for example, courses for wine tourism, restaurant staff (waiters, chefs, sommeliers…), hotel staff. I also provide a translation service for wineries and restaurants from Spanish/Catalan to English and I provide wine tastings for groups.
